The Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, on Monday joined other party stakeholders and members of the All Progressives Congress at the party Senatorial Primary Election for Daura Zone.
The primary election was conducted across the senatorial district in a peaceful, transparent, and orderly atmosphere, reflecting a high level of participation from party stakeholders, delegates, and members across all 12 local government areas of the zone.
This was contained in a statement by Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Katsina State.
A total of 81,134 delegates were accredited for the exercise, out of which 80,661 votes were successfully cast across 128 electoral wards in the senatorial district, demonstrating strong engagement in the party’s internal democratic process.
At the conclusion of the election, Rt. Hon. Nasir Yahya Daura secured a landslide victory with 78,395 votes, defeating his closest rival, Ahmed Kabir Abdullahi, who polled 2,274 votes.
The results were officially announced at the collation centre in Daura by the Chairman of the APC Primary Elections Committee from the party’s national headquarters, Dr. Yakubu Machido.
Earlier, the Returning Officer, Alhaji Shafiu Duwan, commended the peaceful and orderly conduct of the exercise across all wards, describing the process as transparent, credible, and well-organized.
Dignitaries present at the collation centre included the Deputy Governor of Katsina State, Malam Faruq Lawal Jobe; the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Abdullahi Garba Faskari; and the APC State Chairman, Dr. Bashir Gambo Saulawa.
Also in attendance were the Chief of Staff, Government House, Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir; former Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika; top government officials; and key party stakeholders, alongside members of the State Executive Council and the State House of Assembly.
Others present included the Member representing Mashi/Dutsi Federal Constituency, Salisu Yusuf Majigiri; the newly affirmed APC consensus candidate for Daura/Sandamu/Mai’Adua Federal Constituency, Yusuf Muhammadu Buhari; and the aspirant for Baure/Zango Federal Constituency, Daga Umar Faruk.
