The Executive Secretary, Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), Rev. Yakubu Pam, has tasked personnel of the commission on adding value to its operations towards the realisation of its mandate.
Pam gave the advice during a strategic meeting with management and staff of the NCPC in Abuja.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by Celestine Toruka, NCPC Head of Media and Public Relations.
The executive secretary said that the meeting was to keep the workers abreast of current happenings in the commission.
He also cautioned them against internal wrangling that could derail them from the path of discharging their responsibilities.
Pam said that the commission had goals to accomplish, as such every member of staff must commit to the realisation of these set targets.
He urged them to keep striving to achieve these goals even in the midst of the storms that usually accompanied life.
“The important thing is in such situations is the ability to overcome, which would be possible through the grace of God.”
He reiterated that even in the midst of the storm, they should be focused and not distracted, because “there would certainly be light at the end of any dark tunnel”.
The executive secretary also charged them to shun internal politics and concentrate on the job.
Pam further tasked them to maintain high level of discipline, including punctuality and loyalty, to constituted authority.
He assured them that the challenges facing the commission in recent times would be surmounted, including funding issues, which he said was not peculiar to the commission alone.
The executive secretary said that the commission was working towards the commencement of the 2022 December main pilgrimage to Israel and Jordan.
He assured that the date for the commencement would be announced soon.
Pam, however, explained that the pilgrimage would mainly be an affair of states, whose intending pilgrims had been successfully screened, and had paid their money for the exercise.
