A VOICE THAT STANDS WITH THE SUFFERING: STEVEN KEFAS AND THE HOPE OF SOUTHERN KADUNA

Across Southern Kaduna, the past years have been marked by pain, insecurity, and attacks. Entire communities have been affected, farms destroyed, and families forced to live in fear. In the midst of this crisis, one name has continued to stand out for consistently showing up for the victims — Steven Kefas.
Although he is not an indigene of Kauru Local Government Area, his commitment has crossed LGA and ethnic lines. Today, he is widely regarded across Southern Kaduna as a voice for the people who suffer from insecurity and attacks.
Steven Kefas has made it his mission to stand with communities that suffer from insecurity and attacks, particularly by armed groups. His work is not about politics or recognition. It is about humanity.
From Zangon Kataf to Kaura, Jema’a to Sanga, Kachia to Kagoro, and now to Kauru Local Government Area, his presence has been felt. In Kauru, communities in Chawai, Kamaru Ward, Naridon and other affected areas have received support, visits, and advocacy from him.
For families who have lost homes and loved ones, his intervention has been a source of strength and the assurance that they are not forgotten.
The extension of his humanitarian work to Kauru LGA has not gone unnoticed. At a time when many communities in Chawai are struggling to recover from attacks and the effects of insecurity, Steven Kefas stepped in.
He has met with victims, provided support to affected persons, and consistently called on government and security agencies to do more to protect lives and property. To the people of Chawai and Kauru, his actions have sent a clear message: that in times of trouble, we must stand for one another regardless of where we come from.
What sets Steven Kefas apart is that his work goes beyond material support. He has used his platform to speak out, to document the suffering of communities affected by insecurity, and to demand justice and lasting peace for Southern Kaduna.
For many victims, he has become a bridge — connecting their pain to those in positions of authority who can act.
The people of Chawai, Kauru, and Southern Kaduna at large appreciate the sacrifices of Steven Kefas. In a time when silence is easier, he chose to speak. In a time when many turned away, he chose to stand.
We pray that God Almighty continues to strengthen him, protect him, and grant him more grace to do more for humanity. May his efforts bring comfort to those who are suffering and hope to the hopeless.
In Steven Kefas, Southern Kaduna has found a defender. In Kauru, we have found a friend. And for the people who suffer from insecurity and attacks, we have found hope.
