The Emir of Gwandu and Chairman Kebbi State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar, has urged Nigerians to be law abiding and remain loyal to constituted authorities.
Speaking at the Eid Prayer Ground, Gesse II, Birnin Kebbi, on Wednesday, the Monarch, emphasised the importance of adherence to rules and regulations as panacea to peace and harmony in the society.
“All of us must renew our Faith in GOD, stay in peace with one another and safeguard security.
“Traditional Rulers are thankful to Governor Nasir Idris for striving in strongest manner to ensure the prevalence of security and tranquility in Kebbi State”, the Emir said.
Liman Yahaya Muhammad led the unprecedented multitude of the Islamic faithfuls congregation in the Eid-el-Kabir prayer, attended by Governor Nasir Idris and top government functionaries.
Meanwhile , the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kebbi State Council, heartily felicitated with the Muslim Ummah in Kebbi State and across Nigeria on the joyous occasion of Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The Council described the festival as a period of sacrifice, obedience, tolerance, love and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim (AS).
The NUJ therefore called on Muslims to sustain the virtues of peace, unity, patience and compassion which the festival symbolizes, while also praying for continued peace, progress and development of Kebbi State and the nation at large.
The Council further urged residents to celebrate responsibly, support one another and extend hands of fellowship to the less privileged in the spirit of the season.
The Union commended journalists in the state for their commitment and dedication to professional duties, and charged them to continue upholding the ethics of the profession.
