In a bold and decisive intervention aimed at restoring academic normalcy at Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Professor Attahiru Muhammadu Jega, has convened a high-level strategic meeting with the University Management and the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
The crucial meeting, held on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Abuja, focused on exploring innovative, practical and sustainable modalities for resolving the four-week-old industrial dispute and restoring normal academic activities at the University.
The meeting, convened by the Governing Council Chairman, brought together the ASUU leadership, the University Management led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, members of the Governing Council and other Principal Officers.
Under the leadership and guidance of Professor Jega, a respected scholar and experienced university administrator, the parties engaged in frank and constructive discussions aimed at identifying common ground and workable solutions to the issues underlying the industrial action.
Professor Liman and the University Management reaffirmed their commitment to constructive engagement and every reasonable effort towards resolving the impasse in the overall interest of the University and its students.
The Abuja engagement represents a significant step in the collective efforts to restore industrial harmony at NSUK. The active involvement of the Governing Council Chairman, working closely with the Vice-Chancellor and the University Management, underscores the University’s strong institutional commitment to resolving the dispute and safeguarding the continuity of academic activities.
The University community remains optimistic that the outcome of the deliberations will provide a balanced and favourable resolution for ASUU, the University Management and, most importantly, the thousands of students eagerly awaiting the resumption of academic activities.
