The Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District and former Governor of Plateau State, Senator Simon Bako Lalong, has commended the President of the Court of Appeal, for her commitment to promoting access to justice at the grassroots through the inauguration of a Magistrate Court and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Centre at Ngootuguut in Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Senator Lalong described the initiative as a significant contribution to the administration of justice, noting that it demonstrates Justice Dongban-Mensem’s dedication to bringing judicial services closer to the people and ensuring that citizens, particularly those in rural communities, have easier access to legal remedies and dispute resolution mechanisms.
According to him, the establishment of the Magistrate Court and ADR Centre will help accelerate the dispensation of justice, reduce the burden on higher courts, and encourage peaceful resolution of disputes within communities.
“The inauguration of these facilities is a clear affirmation of Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem’s passion for strengthening the justice system and widening access to justice for ordinary Nigerians. This intervention will not only enhance the administration of justice but also promote peace, harmony, and social cohesion among the people,” he said.
Speaking during the event, Justice Dongban-Mensem disclosed that the project forms part of activities marking the 50th anniversary of the Court of Appeal and her 69th birthday.
She urged members of the community and other stakeholders to make good use of the facilities in resolving disputes amicably and fostering harmony within society.
Justice Monica emphasized the importance of bringing governance and public services closer to the people, stressing that access to justice remains a fundamental pillar of democratic governance and sustainable development.
Also speaking at the event, the Governor of Plateau State, expressed profound appreciation to the President of the Court of Appeal for the gesture, describing it as a major boost to the cause of justice and judicial efficiency in Plateau State.
Senator Lalong congratulated Justice Dongban-Mensem on the successful completion of the project and wished her continued strength, wisdom, and good health as she continues to serve the nation and advance the cause of justice.
