The Naija Drone Soccer League (NDSL) has announced the launch of Nigeria’s first-ever competitive drone soccer league for senior secondary school students, a move it says marks a new step in linking e-sports, technology and education.
NDSL in a statement on Wednesday, said it is introducing a nationwide platform where STEM education meets competitive sport.
The league will use drone soccer to equip young Nigerians with future-ready skills in aerospace, aeronautics, aviation technology, engineering, robotics, teamwork and strategic thinking.
According to the organisers, the initiative is designed to turn innovative classrooms into hubs of innovation while creating a national sports ecosystem for students.
“As the world rapidly shifts toward technology-driven economies, the NDSL provides Nigerian students with hands-on exposure to emerging technologies in a structured, competitive environment that nurtures creativity, problem-solving, and leadership.
“Drone-soccer is more than a sport—it is a training ground for the future. Through this league, we are building a generation of innovators who will shape Nigeria’s future in technology, aviation, and engineering,” the group said.
The league will run as a national competition for senior secondary school student athletes. NDSL said it will provide drone soccer kits, training and technical support to participating schools.
The competition structure will begin with regional qualifiers that will feed into a national championship.
The group also plans teacher and school capacity-building programs and says it will create pathways to global STEM and drone technology opportunities for students.
NDSL is inviting senior secondary schools across Nigeria to register for its inaugural season.
It noted that early participating schools will receive priority onboarding, technical support and national visibility in the new league.
The group said it is also open to stakeholders, corporate organisations and development partners who want to support the initiative.
It noted that partnerships will contribute to youth empowerment, STEM education advancement and the growth of Nigeria’s emerging drone and robotics ecosystem, while offering brand visibility and social impact value.
With Nigeria’s large and dynamic youth population, NDSL said it aims to become a leading platform for discovering and developing future engineers and technology leaders.
The Naija Drone Soccer League describes itself as Nigeria’s first structured drone soccer competition platform dedicated to merging education, innovation and e-sport.
Through national league competitions, it says it will empower students with practical STEM skills while building a sustainable pathway into global technology and aviation industries.
It urged interested schools and partnerships to get more information from its website.
