The newly elected President of Onitsha Sports Club, Chief Titus Adirika, has pledged to reposition the club, rehabilitate its facilities and revive sporting activities as part of efforts to restore its former glory.
Adirika made the commitment on August 5, 2026, shortly after his election and formal handover ceremony, where he called on members to support the new administration in its drive to rebuild the club and strengthen unity among members.
He described the election as a major step towards better management of the club, expressing confidence in the new executive, which he said comprised professionals and experienced members committed to moving the organisation forward.
“Our club deserves better management, and members have effected it today. I am proud of the team that will work with me. We have professionals and reliable gentlemen, and we believe that the club will be lifted again to regain its glory,” Adirika said.
The new president said his administration would uphold discipline, integrity, respect, honour and sportsmanship, while giving priority to the rehabilitation of facilities damaged during the crisis that affected the club.
“Everybody should brace up for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of things that were damaged during the crisis,” he stated.
Adirika further disclosed that he would serve as president for the 2026 tenure, with the possibility of seeking re-election after one year in office.
A trustee of the club and Chief Executive Officer of Best Aluminum Group, Chief Pius Nweke, commended members for conducting a peaceful election and urged the new executive to operate an inclusive administration.
Nweke described the election as transparent, free and fair, appealing to all contestants and members to accept the outcome and unite behind the new leadership as it tackles the challenges confronting the club.
The newly elected executive members include Chief Titus Adirika as President; Chief Okwudili Muoedu, Vice President; Chief Toochukwu Chidobelu, General Secretary; Chief Martin Iloegbunam, Treasurer; Chief Solomon Maduike, Financial Secretary; Ms. Chidimma Muokwue, Social Secretary; Chief Nche Nwabudu, House and Grounds Secretary; and Chief Chuka Egbosiuba, Grill Secretary.
The Social Secretary, Ms. Muokwue, also assured members that the new executive would work closely with the president to resolve outstanding issues and improve the club’s facilities and overall welfare of its members.
The administration is expected to focus on rebuilding the club’s infrastructure, reviving sporting activities and promoting unity, discipline and sportsmanship among members.
