The Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has witnessed the endorsement and affirmation of Senator Muntari Muhammad Dandutse, representing Katsina South Senatorial District, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus candidate for a second-term bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The affirmation followed a unanimous consensus arrangement conducted in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act and the internal democratic guidelines of the APC.

The event, held at the Isma’ila Isa Funtua Township Stadium, brought together Governor Radda, party stakeholders, leaders, and APC members drawn from across the senatorial district, where the senator was formally presented before the gathering.

The Chairman of the APC National Headquarters Consensus Affirmation Committee, Hon. Garba Saleh Gombe, presided over the exercise. A voice vote conducted among delegates and party supporters produced an overwhelming endorsement of Senator Dandutse as the party’s consensus flagbearer.

Hon. Garba Saleh commended the peaceful and orderly conduct of the exercise in Katsina State, describing it as a model for internal party democracy.

“Katsina State has set a national benchmark in the implementation of the consensus arrangement. It remains the most peaceful and well-organized exercise recorded so far within the party’s ongoing nomination process across the country,” he said.

He noted that while some states faced challenges in their consensus arrangements, Katsina distinguished itself through unity, discipline, and strong leadership under Governor Radda.

“Despite situations in other states where many aspirants purchased nomination forms and tensions arose, Katsina’s process was distinguished by structured engagement, internal harmony, and effective conflict prevention mechanisms,” he added.

Hon. Saleh further described Governor Radda’s leadership style as visionary and central to the success of the exercise.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee for the APC consensus exercise and Chief of Staff, Hon. Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir, praised the governor for promoting political stability and strengthening unity within Katsina South Senatorial District.

“The consensus arrangement has further reinforced unity among party members and stakeholders across the zone,” he said.

He added that the process had significantly reduced internal divisions while enhancing cooperation and collective political responsibility within the APC structure.

The event was graced by the Deputy Governor, Malam Faruk Lawal Jobe; the Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Hon. Hannatu Musa Musawa; Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Abdullahi Garba Faskari and Special Adviser, Inter Governmental and Development Partners Hajiya Hadiza Maikudi .

Also present were members of the House of Representatives earlier affirmed for second-term bids, including Hon. Abdullahi Aliyu (Musawa/Matazu Federal Constituency), Hon. Muhammad Aminu Ibrahim (Kafur Federal Constituency), Hon. Hamza Suleiman (Faskari/Sabuwa/Kankara Federal Constituency), and Hon. Ya’u Ahmed (Funtua/Dandume Federal Constituency), alongside chairmen of local government areas across the senatorial zone, APC stakeholders, and party leaders.
