The Interfaith Mediation Centre, in collaboration with the Embassy of Germany Abuja, organized a two-day programme aimed at strengthening women interfaith leadership for the promotion of human rights, transitional justice and democratic stability in Kaduna State.
The programme, titled “Strengthening Women Interfaith Leadership for Human Rights, Transitional Justice and Democratic Stability Project,” brought together traditional and religious leaders, socio-cultural organisations, media practitioners, security agencies and legal experts to deliberate on strategies for peaceful coexistence and justice.
Speaking during the opening session, Samson Auta from IMC urged participants to embrace mutual respect and tolerance in their engagements with others.
“Do not do to others what you do not want others to do to you,” he said, while stressing the importance of peacebuilding and understanding among communities.
Organisers said the project is designed to empower women leaders across faith-based and community platforms to play more active roles in conflict prevention, mediation and democratic development in Kaduna State.
The programme also featured group discussions where participants examined ways of identifying community challenges, addressing emerging conflicts and providing practical solutions through pathway referral mechanisms.
Participants were also expected to share experiences and recommendations on improving collaboration among stakeholders in promoting human rights, justice and sustainable peace across communities.
