Ngo (Rivers), August 3, 2023 – Prof. Beatrice Awortu, wife of Chairman, Andoni local government area in Rivers has donated wrappers, toiletries and consumables to expectant and nursing mothers in the area council.
Awortu made the donation on Wednesday at Ngo the council’s headquarters as part of activities marking the 2023 ‘World Breastfeeding Week’.

Emphasising on the year’s theme; “Enabling breastfeeding – making a difference for working parents’ Awortu encouraged nursing mothers to always include exclusive breastfeeding in their daily work plan.
She said that the measure would enhance child development and also boost the immune system of infants.
Prof. Awortu who is also Director of Studies Unit, Ignatius Ajuru, University of Education called for more sensitisation on exclusive breastfeeding in the various wards of the area council.
She urged traditional and religious leaders to que in and propagate the message of exclusive breastfeeding to pregnant and nursing mothers in the Communities.
