A veteran politician in Bauchi State, Dr Ibrahim Muhammadu Baba Waziri, has declared his interest to contest for the presidential ticket of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) for the 2027 general elections.

He made the declaration in Bauchi, on Friday, during a World Press conference stressing that, “My fellow Nigerians, Today, I stand before you not just as a candidate, but as a citizen who believes deeply and unwaveringly in the promise of this great nation.
Nigeria stands at a crossroads.”

According to him, “Our country is richly blessed-blessed with talent,
with resilience, with vast natural resources, and with an indomitable spirit. Yet today,we find ourselves weighed down. We are burdened by rising debt, deepening poverty, and a persistent crisis of insecurity that threatens the very fabric of our society.”

He added that,”Let me say this clearly: Nigeria has no business living in these conditions. We were not created to struggle under the weight of mismanagement. We were not destined to watch our future slip through our fingers.”

He added that, “That truth echoes just as loudly today. This moment calls for leadership that is deeply accountable. Leadership that listens. Leadership that serves-not itself, but the
people. Therefore, I am declaring my candidacy for the 2027 presidential election because I believe Nigeria deserves better and I am ready to work alongside you to build that future.”

The Sarkin Sullubawan Bauchi added that,”We must restore security, because without safety, there can be no progress. We must rebuild our economy, focusing on productivity, innovation, and shared prosperity-not just mere survival. We must lift millions out of poverty, not through empty rhetoric, but through practical, decisive reforms that create sustainable jobs and real opportunity.”

The aspirant further said that,”We must govern with unyielding integrity, transparency, and discipline. This is not about politics as usual. This is about a bold new direction. I see a Nigeria where our young people can dream again. A Nigeria where businesses can thrive. A Nigeria where every single citizen regardless of background, faith, or ethnicity can feel safe, valued, and empowered.

“But let me be clear-this journey cannot be mine alone. It must be ours. This is an urgent call to every Nigerian: To rise above division. To reject despair. To believe, once again, in what we can achieve. And yes, we can. Together, we can turn our challenges into historic opportunities. Together, we can rewrite the story of our nation. Together, we can build a Nigeria that truly works for everyone.
The time for excuses is over. The time for true leadership is now. May God bless you, and may God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he stressed.

While highlighting the manifesto to fix Nigeria, he stressed that,”In the name of the Creator, let us fix Nigeria starting from 2027.
In the name of the Almighty, Nigeria must pay off all outstanding loans taken by past governments within four to six months. Within six months to a year, our nation must be liberated from most, if not all, of the criminal syndicates currently holding us back.

“Furthermore, if elected, all outstanding salaries and gratuities will be paid in full within the first year. We will implement free and compulsory education up to the first-degree level. We will provide free healthcare for children up to seven years old, and free healthcare for our
seniors from sixty years of age and above. In the name of the Creator, we absolutely have the resources to achieve all of this and more.”

According to him,”Nigeria must build the capacity to produce for export and become entirely self-sufficient in all types of food. We must revolutionize agriculture to the point where we can produce vital commodities for both our domestic industrial consumption and the export market. We must achieve complete energy self-sufficiency across all sectors by leveraging renewable energy sources, specifically solar, wind, and geothermal energy.”

According to him, the Five Key Pillars of his Administration will be
Security by recognizing the direct correlation between poverty and crime. Economy, Creating an enabling environment to make our economy highly productive., International Relations by putting Nigeria First in all global and domestic matters, Humanity by viewing everyone primarily as human beings and treating all equally as well as religion and Ethnicity through fostering unity and mutual respect.

Ibrahim Waziri who in the past had contest the presidential ticket of the SDP with late MKO Abiola and the PDP, expressed optimism that he will win the APM primary election and become the presidential candidate.
