Kwara Election: Observer Group, ACHSC Commends INEC Successful Conduct of Presidential, National Assembly Election

Observer Group Commend INEC and Electorates for the successful conduct of the 2023 Presidential and National Assembly Elections in Kwara State
The African Center for Human Advancement Social and Community Development Election Observation Mission deployed to Kwara State has commended both the electoral umpire (INEC) and the electorates for their peaceful conduct in the just concluded general election on Saturday 25th February, 2023 in Kwara State.
The Leader of the mission, Haruna Abdulsalami Okatahi disclosed on Monday during a press briefing that the election was generally peaceful and transparent but with low voters turnout in most polIing units visited.
While INEC officials reported to their duty post late, voting was extended till dead night in some pooling unit so as for voters to cast their votes for their preferred candidates without been disenfranchised.
Volunteers that monitored the election in Ilorin west ,Asa and some parts of Ilorin East Local Government observed the peaceful atmosphere before during and after the election within the state capital that was originally marked as flashpoint.
Despite the late deployment of election materials to the polling units, voters were eventually accredited for voting in various polling units that had the experience and no voter was disenfranchised from exercising their civil right
Vote sorting, counting processes were carried out in a transparent manner in the full glance of party agents, media, observers and security agents even with improvised lighting materials in some polling units where voting was delayed.
Haruna Abdulsalam Okatahi while commending the independent National Electoral commission (INEC) and security agents for the peaceful and hitch free conduct of the election, he noted that the issue of selection and training of ad hoc staffs should be more rigorous as most of them exhibited ignorance of what is expected of them as their duty until being reminded by observers.
Also speaking the head of data research and analysis of The African Center for Human Advancement Social and Community Development Observer mission to Kwara State, Oladele Peter Olasunkanmi said following the results announced at the various collation centers by INEC within the state and what was collated at the various polling units across monitored local governments, the mission can categorically say that the result announced reflects the voting and the wishes of the electorates.
The mission congratulates the people of Kwara State for initiating a transparent and constitutionally acceptable process of transition for a recognised leadership and representation both at the federal and national assembly for the next four years and also urged the winners to be magnanimous in victory while we urge the losers to only tread the part of democratically laid down law to address any grievances if any.
