Bago promise to cede LG Vice-Chairmanship Slot to Women if Elected

The APC Governorship Candidate of Niger State, Hon. Mohammed Umaru Bago, has declared if elected his government would make a law that would make it mandatory to cede the local government vice chairmanship slot to women.

He made this known on Sunday at the inauguration of the State Excos of Arewa Women for Tinubu/Shettima and Bago, held at Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi Center in Minna, Niger State.

He asserted that the move would encourage women to participate actively in politics.

He said, “my wife wants 50/50 equation for political leadership positions for men and women but because of our culture, women are not given the chance, however, if being elected as the governor, I will formulate a policy that will make it mandatory to make vice chairmanship slot to be ceded to women”.

He enthused the patience and perseverance of women. He said, “you are the most patient and trustworthy, I will appreciate women adequately in my government, the ministries will be populated with women and I assure you our incoming president Sen. Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu will also do the same at the national level.

Bago, who disclosed his wife’s goodwill message to the support group with a cash donation of three million Naira from the wife and children (N3,000,000), also make a personal donation of two million Naira (N2,000,000) to the group.

Earlier speaking, the National Coordinator of Arewa Women for Tinubu/Shettima and Bago, Hajiya Saadatu Dogon Bauchi, assured that women were for the Tinubu and Bago as president and governor respectively.

She said, “we are sure the incoming government is pro-women, therefore, I urge you to go to the grassroots and mobilize support for Tinubu, Bago and all APC candidates from top to bottom.
