World Malaria Day:Pharmaceutical company donates 1,200 anti-malaria tea packs to Dutse residents

The Nigeria Humanitarian Action (NIHA), an NGO, in collaboration with Tradomed pharmaceutical and ultimate Curative has donated 1,200 packs of anti-malaria herbal tea to Primary Health Care (PHC).

The gesture is in commemoration of World Malaria Day, which comes up April 25 every year by World Health Organization(WHO).

The Managing Director CEO , Tradomed Pharmaceuticals, Pharmacist Charles Iheanacho, while presenting the anti-malaria drugs to the primary health care centre said the donation was in line with World Health Organization (WHO)’s theme for World Malaria Day 2020 ‘Zero Malaria Starts with Me’.

He said the drugs would support the healthcare centre in treating malaria in the community, as it would be given to people who tested positive for malaria.
According to him, malaria is the biggest pandemic Nigeria and Africa have , stressing that ” If we can prevent malaria attacks in our society, it means that we have won the war against COVID-19 by more than 90 per cent.”

The pharmacist decried that malaria kille over 500,000 people every year in Africa.

‘’In Nigeria, no fewer than 180 million people have or treated malaria once or twice yearly. When we realistically look at it, we see that none of us would suffer from malaria less than twice a year, ” he added.

A medical personnel at Dutse Makaranta Primary Health Care Centre, Dr. Okafor Lucky, while receiving the donations lauded Nigeria Humanitarian Action in partnership with Tradomed Pharmaceuticals for the gesture.
Lucky expressed delight that the anti-malaria drug would help treat residents who could not afford to buy anti-malaria drugs after testing positive of malaria.

However, Okafor decried that in the past one month, more people tested positive for malaria but had no money to buy anti-malaria drugs for the treatment of the disease.

He said, “The donation will go a long way to cater for members of the community as they can come and get their medication for free.’’

He said that one of the major causes of malaria in the community was poor sanitation and unhygienic communal living which he said helped to breed the female anopheles mosquitoes.
Commenting, Dr Emmanuel Akor of the Nigerian Humanitarian Ultimate Curative ,said Tradomed anti-malaria herbal tea was the simplest antidote against malaria infection.

Akor, therefore, enjoined Africa to support WHO in its effort to end malaria infection in the world.
