Midnight fire guts 20 shops at Sokoto old market, destroys multi-million naira wares
A midnight fire at the old market in Sokoto metropolis has gutted no fewer than twenty shops, as a result of which assorted wares believed to be worth millions of naira had been destroyed .
Our Correspondent in Sokoto gathered that , there was however no loss of life, while no injury was recorded as a result of the inferno .
It was also learnt that , some of the wares razed down by the fire were mainly cosmetics , clothes and assorted clothing matetials.
Eye witnesses say the fire was said to have been ignited from one of the affected shops , hence ,later engulfed the other ones .
The Head of Operations, Sokoto Fire Service, Alhaji Mustapha Abubakar, has confirmed the incident .
The official added that, the inferno was put out by fire fighters of the Fire Service at around 2.00am, Tuesday.
Abubakar further explained that , officials of the Department were at the scene of the incident investigating its causes.
They will also ascertain the estimated damages caused by the inferno, as well as profile the victims.
