Kogi Guber: 58 political parties declares unflinching support to Bello

Ahead of Kogi governorship election slated for Nov. 16, 58 political parties under the auspices of the United Political Parties for Good Governance have unanimously declared unflinching support to the incumbent Gov. Yahaya Bello.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that some of the parties are Grassroots Development Party of Nigeria(GDPN), Democratic Alternative (DA), National Conscious Party (NCP), People Redemption Party (PRP) and Democratic Peoples Party (DPP).

Others are Advanced Congress of Democrat(ACD), Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN), All People’s Party(APP), Citizens People’s Party( CPP) and the rest.

The National Chairman of Democratic Alternative (DA), Mr Frank Ukonga announced this when he led a delegation of leaders of the 58 political parties to paid a courtesy call on the FCT Minister of State, Dr Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, on Wednesday in Lokoja.

Ukonga said that the reelection of Gov. Bello would enable him continue with good governance and consolidate on his achievements so far.

He said that Bello as the youngest governor in the country had given hope and inclusive to the youth of Kogi in particular and the nation in general.

The party leader also said that Gov. Bello deserves to be reelected to continue to be the shining example for the youth in the country.

” We are national leaders of 58 registered political parties who have come together under the platform of the United Political Parties for Good Governance (UPPG) to promote good governance and quality service delivery to Nigerians.

” We have observed with keen interest, in the past four years, the laudable programmes and achievements of Gov. Bello which has encouraged us to come all the way from the FCT to declare our support toward his victory in the Nov. 16 governorship election in Kogi.

” As national leaders of 58 political parties with structures and large followership in Kogi has come to mobilise our members and the people of the state to give their unflinching support to Gov. Bello in the Saturday governorship election.

” We strongly believe that the unflinching support of our members would further guarantee and enhance the victory of Bello in the election, ” Ukonga said.

He, therefore, call on the teeming members and supporters and the general public in Kogi to come out en-mass and vote Bello and his Deputy Onoja.

He used the occasion to appealed to members and supporters of the 58 political parties as well as the good people of Kogi to shun any act of violence, before, during and after the governorship election.

Responding, the FCT Minister of state, expressed delight to the leaders and members of the 58 political parties for their support to the governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) and incumbent Gov. Bello of Kogi.

Aliyu noted that it was not easy for different political parties to unite and speak with one voice on some issues, saying ” only God will reward the leaders of the 58 parties for their solidarity to the reelection of Gov. Bello.

She assured the leaders of the 58 political parties that she would not only passed their message to the governor but also to the national leadership of the APC in Abuja.

Aliyu said there was never a time when continuity was not the best option when it comes to good governance and upliftment of the downtrodden in the society.

” On behalf of Gov. Bello and all APC stakeholders in Kogi and the national level, I want to sincerely appreciate you for the support and solidarity to reelection bid of the governor, ” Aliyu said.

In a related development, the Minister held meeting with all the APC Wards leaders in Lokoja and enjoined to mobilise their members and supporters to vote for Gov. Bello on Saturday governorship election.

Similarly, the minister addressed leaders of women associations, market women, cultural groups and appealed to them to come out en-mass and vote for APC governorship candidate on Nov. 16. (NAN)
