The NUJ FRCN Headquarters Chapel has urged Civil Society Groups and Non Governmental Organizations to support efforts of Government on Covid-19 fight by sensitizing and enlightening Nigerians at the grassroots.
The Chairperson of the Union, Comrade Sandra Udeike made the call while receiving Personal Protective materials from an NGO, OCI Foundation, on behalf of members in Abuja.
Comrade Udeike noted that despite the increasing number of deaths and persons infected by the virus, some Nigerians still doubt it’s existence.
She therefore advised every Nigerian to obey all the guidelines and instructions regarding Covid-19 from health experts and the Government.
The President of the OCI Foundation, Professor Chidi Ifediora highlighted the fact that journalists were usually exposed to various risks while carrying out their jobs, stressing the need for more support to the media.
Represented by the team leader on Programmes in the NGO, Mrs. Felicia, Professor Ifediora called for stronger collaboration between the Foundation and others media Organization to eradicate the pandemic.
The OCI Foundation is collaborating with the NYSC, the Federal Ministry of
Women Affairs, Nollywood Nigeria, the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, and
other international institutions on campaigns to introduce anti-breast and anti-cervical cancer
teachings into the curriculum of all Nigerian senior secondary schools.
