Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, says his administration has restored the dignity of traditional institutions across the state.
Governor Radda made this known during a courtesy visit to the District Heads of Kankara, the Sarkin Pauwan Katsina and other traditional rulers, Islamic scholars and community leaders ahead of Tinubu-Dikko 2027 campaign rally in Kankara.
“We have come to pay our respects to our traditional rulers, district heads, Islamic scholars, elders and the entire community. We have also come to seek your prayers and blessings as we proceed to the campaign rally,” the Governor said.
He noted that seeking prayers from traditional institutions before major political engagements has been his practice in the last four years, adding that their counsel and guidance remain a source of encouragement.
“We recognise the important role our traditional rulers, Islamic scholars and community leaders play in maintaining peace and supporting development. That is why we have taken steps to restore their dignity and strengthen their positions,” he said.
Governor Radda disclosed that his administration has approved and released gratuity payments to 14,560 beneficiaries across the state, 34 Local Government Areas and Local Education Authorities, as part of efforts to clear inherited retirement and death-benefit liabilities.
He also said no contractor is being owed by the state government except for those with incomplete work, and attributed improved capacity of states to meet obligations to reforms introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
On development, the Governor said the Community Development Programme (CDP) was designed to bring development closer to the people by involving district heads, Islamic scholars and community leaders in every ward.
“We introduced these initiatives deliberately to strengthen grassroots participation and ensure that development reaches our communities,” he added.
Speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers, the District Head of Kankara, retired Justice Alhaji Adamu Bello, commended the administration for restoring peace and stability in the area and for interventions in resolving disputes over access to clean water through dialogue with Fulani leaders.
He also commended the ongoing remodelling of General Hospital, Kankara, and acknowledged the approval for a secondary school in Mabai, while appealing for speedy implementation. He requested stronger security around schools and sustained construction of major and feeder roads to link farming communities to markets.
Earlier, Chairman of Kankara Local Government, Hon. Alhaji Kasimu Dantsoho Katoge, described the visit as an opportunity to strengthen relations between government, traditional institutions and the community.
The visit was attended by Deputy Governor Malam Faruk Lawal-Jobe; Director-General of the Tinubu-Dikko Campaign Council, Arch. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa; Campaign Council Co-Chairman, Dr. Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa; Katsina State APC Chairman, Hon. Dr. Bishir Gambo Saulawa; Deputy Director-General, Hon.
