The Citizens for Good Governance, Rule of Law & Anti-Corruption Initiative* has issued a 72-hour ultimatum to the management of GUO Logistics to account for the lives lost in a fatal road crash that killed students and left others fighting for survival.
In a statement signed by Comrade Danesi Momoh, Director General Citizens for Good Governance, Rule of Law Anti-Corruption Initiative and made available to Aluta News on Friday in Abuja.
The group expressed profound sorrow, outrage and grave concern over the fatal accident that occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. on 28 August 2026, involving a Toyota Hiace bus conveying more than 23 passengers from Gombe State to Lagos State, reportedly after a truck belonging to GUO Logistics rammed into the bus.
The tragic incident reportedly claimed five lives, including students travelling to Lagos for their mandatory industrial training, while several other passengers were left in critical condition, struggling for survival. Among the deceased persons identified to the organisation are Isiyaku Sa’idu, Maigana Mohammed, popularly known as Abbati, Anas Abubakar, who was reportedly the driver, Zaiyanu Bajoga, and Abubakar Ibrahim.
The organisation extended its heartfelt condolences to their families and all those who have lost loved ones in the devastating incident. It noted that the victims were Nigerians pursuing education, employment and better opportunities for themselves and their families, adding that the students were travelling to fulfil their academic requirements and prepare for their professional futures, but what should have been a journey towards a better tomorrow reportedly ended in death for some and a desperate fight for survival for others.
The group stated that their lives mattered, their dreams mattered, and their families deserve answers, insisting that GUO LOGISTICS MUST NOT PRIORITISE CORPORATE IMAGE OVER HUMAN LIVES.
It expressed deep concern over allegations that efforts are being made to protect the company’s public image rather than adequately address the suffering of the victims and their families, stressing that at a time when families are mourning their loved ones and other victims are reportedly battling for survival, silence, avoidable delays and inadequate communication are unacceptable.
The group therefore issued a 72-HOUR ULTIMATUM TO THE MANAGEMENT OF GUO LOGISTICS to make itself available to address the tragedy and demonstrate meaningful commitment to the victims and their families, demanding immediate contact with the victims’ families.
When contacted, Mr Yemi who responded on behalf of GUO Motors denied all the allegations and said that the company has been on ground with the victims and doing everything humanly possible to contain the unfortunate incident.
