Art for Health Initiative will host Microbe Madness 2.0 bringing together art, interactive games and innovative storytelling to raise awareness of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and inspire action to protect the future of medicine.
The event will hold on November 18, 2026, at CEP Entertainment and Media Hub, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.
Supported by Dr. Ameyo Stella Adadevoh (DRASA) Heath Trust, the Yemisi Shyllon Museum of Art (YSMA) and BNL Healthcare, the event will feature approximately 15 exhibiting artists, with works exploring the theme “One Action for Our Future.”
Antimicrobial resistance occurs when bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites no longer respond to medicines used to treat them, making infections harder or sometimes impossible to treat and threatens the effectiveness of life-saving medicines and increases the risks associated with procedures such as surgery. Despite this threat, AMR remains poorly understood by many people.
Founder, Art for Health Initiative, Chidera Rosecamille Aneke in a notice, said through Microbe Madness, the organization is bringing the conversation into a creative, welcoming space where people can have fun while learning why effective medicines matter and how their everyday actions can help protect them.
“Protecting the future of medicine requires a collective effort. Everyone has a role to play, and our contribution is to make health information accessible through art, creativity and innovative storytelling,” Chidera said.
She said: “Art has a way of carrying messages across generations. We want people to enjoy the experience, connect with the stories and leave with one action they can take to protect our shared future.”
During the event, visitors will experience an art exhibition, animation, drama, music and interactive games designed to spark conversations about AMR, infection prevention and responsible medicine use.
According to the notice, a dedicated mental health corner will also exhibit artworks from the organisation’s “What We Carry” workshop, creating space for reflection on emotional wellbeing alongside the event’s AMR focus.
Microbe Madness is one of Art for Health Initiative’s ongoing initiatives addressing AMR, a key thematic priority for the organization.
Building on its first edition in Enugu in 2024, the Lagos event continues its use of creative experiences to connect public health information with everyday life.
Importantly, the event takes place on the opening day of World AMR Awareness Week, November 18–24, and just over two weeks before Nigeria hosts the 5th Global High-Level Ministerial Conference on AMR in Abuja from December 6–8, 2026.
Besides, the event brings the call for collective action into a community setting, encouraging audiences to see their own role in preserving the medicines that future generations will need.
According to the Founder, the Initiative invites journalists, creatives, health professionals, students, community members and prospective partners to attend, engage with the artworks and help carry the message beyond the exhibition.
