The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic (ATAPOLY), Chapter has demanded reviewed salary structure and the Consolidated Academic Tools Allowance (CATA) for academic staff.
The Union, though commended the State Government for facilitating the development and advancement of the Polytechnic campus in every ramifications.
The ASUP particularly acknowledged the efforts of the Governor, Sen Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, for the ongoing road construction projects, substantial financial commitment towards the payment of compensation for land acquired for the expansion of the Polytechnic and the fencing of the entire institution, valued at huge amount of naira.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday at the ASUP Secretariat, Comr. Nazif Abba Pálì, Chairman, ASUP, said, “We also appreciate the support for accreditation funding, infrastructural development, and the appointment of principal officers from within the Polytechnic.”
According to him, *These initiatives demonstrate His Excellency’s commitment to strengthening the institution’s infrastructure, expanding its capacity, and promoting sustainable educational development in Bauchi State.”
ASUP also acknowledged the financial support extended by the Governor towards the successful hosting of its First International Conference in December 2025.
“This support contributed to the organisation of the conference, which provided a platform for intellectual engagement, knowledge sharing, and discussions on sustainable economic development. We are grateful for this intervention and the confidence it reflects in the academic community of ATAPOLY,” he added.
The Union also appreciated the installation of solar-powered streetlights across the Polytechnic campus saying,”This important intervention has contributed to improving campus illumination, enhancing the general campus environment, and supporting institutional development.*
“We recognise this effort as part of the government’s commitment to improving facilities and creating a more conducive environment for teaching, learning, and other academic activities,” he added.
The ASUP Chairman further said, “We also recognise the administration’s attention to staff welfare, which remains essential to maintaining staff morale, institutional stability, and effective service delivery. We commend these efforts and encourage the government to sustain its support for the Polytechnic.”
ASUP however, while expressing appreciation, respectfully used the opportunity to appeal to the Governor to facilitate the implementation of the newly reviewed salary structure and the Consolidated Academic Tools Allowance (CATA) for academic staff of the institution, in line with the applicable agreements and approved provisions.
It stressed that, “The implementation of these entitlements will contribute significantly to staff motivation, improved productivity, and the continued delivery of quality education. We believe that a motivated workforce is fundamental to achieving the administration’s educational development objectives.”
It therefore called on the relevant authorities to give this matter favourable consideration and ensure that academic staff benefit from the approved provisions.
ASUP ATAPOLY Chapter assured that it remains committed to constructive engagement, industrial harmony, and the sustainable development of the institution.
According to ASUP, “We believe that through continued collaboration between the government, management, and staff, ATAPOLY can attain greater academic excellence and institutional progress.”
