Senator Musa Garba Maidoki has restated his absolute commitment to the welfare and wellbeing of the people of Kebbi South Senatorial District and Kebbi State in general which transcends any political, partisan, pecuniary or primordial consideration.
Senator Maidoki made this succinct statement during an exclusive chat with media men in Abuja when announcing his defection from the All Progressive Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) recently.
According to him, ‘my defection to the ADC is based on the fact that the welfare and wellbeing of my people comes first and l cannot sacrifice it for any other interest be it partisan or material’. Out of the three senators from Kebbi State, l was the only one that was denied a return ticket and my only offence was that I cried out about the high level of insecurity to lives and property presently taking place in my zone.
I did not abuse anyone, not the Governor, not Mr President. I only called for urgent measures to be put in place to tackle the spate of insecurity plaquing my zone and that was what made the powers that be to deny me the senatorial return ticket.’
‘Despite the fact that l won the senatorial seat on the PDP platform, l joined the APC to ensure that all the constituency projects earmarked for my zone are implemented to the full. But as l speak, those promises made by the APC leadership were never implemented. Most of the projects or rehabilitation works earmarked in the budget have never seen the light of day’
‘My decision to join the ADC today is to make sure that my people continue to enjoy credible representation that will protect their interests, welfare and aspirations and for that l owe no one any apologies. I will continue to stand with my people, come rain, come shine’ – Senator Musa Garba Maidoki concluded.
