The National President of the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE), Comrade Benjamin Anthony, has assured members that the union’s jurisdictional scope dispute will be resolved soon.

Anthony gave the assurance on Saturday while speaking at the AUPCTRE Federal Zonal Council Meeting held at Green Minds Hotel, Utako, Abuja.

He was responding to concerns raised by some members over alleged instigation by sister unions. According to him, some unions are trying to mislead gullible workers with the false claim that AUPCTRE is only for junior staff.

“The Nigerian Constitution allows every worker to choose any union of their choice. Unfortunately, some sister unions who have nothing tangible to offer their members resort to coercion instead of protecting workers’ rights and improving working conditions,” Anthony said.

He reiterated that AUPCTRE remains committed to defending workers’ interests and will continue to protect the rights and welfare of all its members, regardless of grade level.

The General Secretary of the union, Comrade Aliyu Mohammed, also assured members that the union is leaving no stone unturned to resolve jurisdictional issues affecting its operations.

He said some of the strategies being deployed cannot be discussed publicly in order to avoid sabotaging ongoing efforts, but expressed confidence that victory is guaranteed.
