Kebbi Police arrest 12 Lakurawa, Mamudawa, Boko Haram bandits, others

Kebbi State Police Command has recorded operational successes in the fight against banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, illegal possession of firearms, and other criminality.

Briefing Newsmen at the headquarters of the Command, Birnin Kebbi, on Wednesday, the Commissioner of Police, Umar Hadejia, said, 12 Lakurawa, Mamudawa, Boko Haram bandits and 1 rapist, were now in custody prelude to prosecution.

“On 5th June, 2026, Police Mobile operatives at Illo Division, Bagudo LGA, arrested three suspected Mamudawa/Boko Haram elements, Muhammadu Bandi, Aliyu Abubakar, Muhammadu Abubakar on a motorcycle heading to Lolo town allegedly to procure food supplies for criminal elements.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects were linked to movements around the area during the attack that claimed the lives of three personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps personnel at Illo on 4th June”, the CP revealed.

He further said on June 7, Police Mobile Force, on special duty along the Ka’oje – Bakin Ruwa road in Bagudo local government intercepted and arrested four suspects, Haruna Abubakar, Abubakar Lawali, Anme Shehu and Yahaya Shehu were being investigated over highly suspicious involvement in armed banditry related activities within SODA forest.

Hadejia further announced the arrest of Murtala Sani of Zazzagawa village on suspicion of providing logistic support, foodstuffs and drinks, to Lakurawa terrorists.

He explained that preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect was observed on several occasions, conveying one Amadu Umar, a suspected member of the Lakurawa terrorist group from Zazzagawa village to the suspect’s enclave.

“In separate episode, on June 10, a gang of 7 armed men invaded Bayan Forestry area, Birnin Kebbi metropolis and attacked the house of one Mustafa Musa. with firearms, machetes and sticks, stole cash amounting to N220,000, mobile phones, and kidnapped his wife, Asmau Isah.

“In swift response, Police operatives supported by civilian JTF and Vigilantes, pursued and intercepted the attackers, successfully rescuing the victim, and arresting one of the suspects, Abubakar Siddi”, Hadejia explained.
