Children in Nigeria have been urged to avoid immorality, drug abuse and other social vices capable of destroying their future, while remaining focused, disciplined and prayerful.
The charge was given by the International President of Christ Universal Children’s Fellowship International, an arm of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, Matriarch Christ Shepherd Kay Ofo, as part of activities marking the 2026 Children’s Day celebration.
In a statement, the London-based clergywoman congratulated children in Nigeria and across the world, describing them as precious gifts whose welfare must remain a priority for families and society.
“As Nigeria marks the 2026 Children’s Day celebration, I extend warm greetings and blessings to children in Nigeria and across the world,” she stated.
According to her, the celebration offers another opportunity to appreciate the value and importance of children in society.
She advised children to take their education seriously, remain respectful to parents, teachers and elders, and keep good company at all times.
“Avoid immorality, drug abuse, violence and every habit capable of destroying your future,” she warned.
The child rights advocate also urged parents and guardians to provide proper care, sound moral upbringing and guidance for their children, stressing that children thrive better in homes where love, discipline and godly examples are upheld.
She further called on governments and leaders across the world to implement child-friendly policies that would promote quality education, healthcare, safety and the overall welfare of children.
According to her, any society that protects its children secures its future.
Matriarch Ofo also expressed concern over the recent kidnap of schoolchildren in Oyo State, lamenting that many of the victims were reportedly still in captivity days after the incident.
She prayed for their safety and speedy rescue, while asking God to continue to preserve, guide and bless children across the world to live purposeful lives filled with peace, wisdom and fulfilment.
