The Anambra State Police Command has stated that the operatives allegedly involved in the arrest of late Mr. Paul Onwualu in Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area, were not officers attached to the state command.

This was made known in a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed that an investigation has begun into the circumstances surrounding Onwualu’s death.

According to the statement, preliminary findings revealed that the officers linked to the arrest of the deceased before his health reportedly deteriorated have already been identified.

However, the command stressed that the operatives are not personnel of the Anambra State Police Command.

SP Ikenga assured residents and the general public that the matter is being handled with seriousness to uncover the facts behind the incident.

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, also appealed to residents to remain calm and allow the investigation to proceed without interference.

He further reiterated the command’s commitment to professionalism, transparency, and the protection of lives and property across the state.

The police spokesperson added that the public would be updated as investigations continue and more details emerge.
