The Anambra State Police Command has arrested and arraigned five suspects over separate cases of child abuse and sexual offences, including a father accused of infecting his daughter with HIV.

The suspects were brought before a Special Court in Awka on May 6, 2026, according to Police Public Relations Officer SP Toochukwu Ikenga.

The most prominent case involves Rapuruchukwu Ezenandu, 46, who allegedly had sexual relations with his 20-year-old daughter since she was 17 and infected her with HIV.

The victim tested positive during a hospital visit on April 23, 2026, prompting a report to Oko Police Station before the matter was transferred to the State command.

In another case, Chukwuemeka Chidiebere, 26, a security guard at an estate, allegedly dragged a 16-year-old girl into an uncompleted building in Ogbunike on April 22, 2026, and has since confessed.

Uchenna Muojama, 36, a barber in Anaocha Local Government Area, is accused of luring an 11-year-old girl into his saloon on April 23, 2026, and forcefully assaulting her. Investigators have obtained a medical report for court use.

Also arraigned is Chukwudi Nwayata, 52, who allegedly exploited the mental condition of an 11-year-old girl, lured her to his house, and sexually assaulted her in a case reported on April 21, 2025.

The fifth suspect, Eucharia Ezenwanne, was arrested on April 28, 2026, for allegedly using a wire to inflict injuries on two adopted children aged 4 and 6.

Anambra Commissioner of Police CP Ikioye Orutugu described the offences as “heinous and unacceptable” and said the command remains committed to protecting vulnerable persons and ensuring offenders are prosecuted.
