Senator Lalong eulogises Ambassador Hirse at 80

Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District and former Governor of Plateau State, Simon Bako Lalong, has paid glowing tribute to elderstatesman and former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bagudu Mutle Hirse, on the occasion of his 80th birthday.

 

Senator Lalong joined family, friends, associates and well-wishers in Jos to celebrate the remarkable life and contributions of the octogenarian, describing him as a distinguished patriot whose service to Plateau State and Nigeria remains exemplary and impactful.

 

He recalled that Ambassador Hirse played a pivotal role in uplifting many Plateau citizens through facilitating employment opportunities for indigenes within the Federal Civil Service, thereby empowering families and contributing to national development.

 

He also commended his outstanding service to the nation as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Namibia and later as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, noting that he discharged his duties with diligence, integrity and a deep sense of patriotism.

 

The Senator further acknowledged the humility, wisdom and unwavering support that Ambassador Hirse extended to him during his tenure as Governor of Plateau State, adding that his strength of character and maturity have continued to inspire many, particularly in fostering unity and advancing political development within the State and the country at large.

 

He said Ambassador Bagudu is a man of deep faith who passed through many trials including the ordeal in the hands of kidnappers but came out very strong.

 

Senator Lalong prayed for God’s continued blessings, good health and peace for the elderstatesman, urging younger generations to emulate his legacy of selfless service, discipline and commitment to nation-building.
