As the Peace Corps commences activities to celebrate her 23rd year of existence as a Non-Governmental Organization, it is instructive to note that the Fund Fair is an established activity and the process of seeking and gathering financial contributions by engaging Individuals, Businesses, Charitable Foundations, or Government Agencies. It is typically an effort of raising funds for pursuing the goals of any organization like the Peace Corps of Nigeria (PCN). Fund Fair is a significant way that Non-Profit Organizations obtain money for their operations globally, Akoh Said
Prof Akoh further emphasized that the PCN has not enjoyed any grant or endowment from any Government Agency or Private Organization (Local or International) other than the Fund Fair in pursuit of her landmark achievement recorded thus far. PCN solely rely on internally generated revenue to carry out its activities.
Adding that contrary to reservation been raised over the years by some members of the Corps as to the rationale behind the Fund Fair, it is compelling to state here for clarity and record purpose too that, while the Nigerian Armed Forces produce emblems which are sold to the general public to raise funds to celebrate the Armed Forces Remembrance Day in commemoration of the death of their fallen heroes; most celebrities in Western Societies also embark on Fund Fair to solicit for funds from the public in order to finance their pet projects or carry out humanitarian services; whereas, others embark on Fund Fair to come out of bankruptcy. These operations are usually targeted at resolving arrays of concerns such as security, health and environmental issues.
The PCN Annual Fund Fair is typically to support projects and operating expenses of its programs.
