The presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Engr. Seyi Makinde, has assured commitment to providing an alternative political direction for Nigeria, and therefore, called for far-reaching reforms to reposition the country’s economy, strengthen national security and promote a more inclusive political environment.
Engr. Makinde stated this during flag-off of his presidential campaign at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi, Saturday, where he urged Nigerians to take an active role in shaping the country’s future by supporting a national reset.
The presidencial candidate observed that persistent insecurity, economic hardship and lack of inclusiveness in governance had created the need for a new approach to national development, urging citizens who desire meaningful change to become part of the process.
Makinde emphasized the importance of national unity and responsible electoral participation. He encouraged voters to resist the influence of money in politics, noting that they could accept money offered by politicians during campaigns, but their votes should reflect their personal convictions for national development.
Earlier in his welcome address to the party’s presidential campaign team to Bauchi, Governor Bala Mohammed, who is also the APM National Leader, declared the state’s commitment to the party’s presidential ambition and pledged support for Makinde’s candidacy.

He stressed the need for justice, equity and inclusiveness in the party’s political arrangements, noting that APM had embraced consensus as its preferred approach to selecting candidates for various elective positions.
According to him, the process had been successfully conducted without unnecessary disagreements or internal divisions.
Governor Mohammed described the party as a platform offering renewed hope to Nigerians, expressing confidence in Makinde’s capacity to provide purposeful leadership.
He added that the party had developed a comprehensive programme designed to confront the country’s pressing challenges, drawing on knowledge, experience and inclusive governance.
Other speakers at the campaign flag-off included APM Vice Presidential Candidate, Lawal Daura, the party’s Governorship candidates in Bauchi and Lagos States, and other national party officials, who reaffirmed their commitment to the party’s vision, programmes and electoral aspirations.
