Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has pledged fresh support to strengthen the institutional and operational capacity of the Katsina State Hisbah Board and enhance its effectiveness in promoting public order and addressing social challenges across the state.
Governor Radda made the commitment when he held a closed-door meeting with the management of the Hisbah Board, led by its Chairman, Brigadier-General Ahmad Muhammad Daku (rtd.), at the Government House, Katsina.
According to the outcomes of the meeting, Governor Radda said his administration would continue to support institutions responsible for maintaining public order, promoting community safety and addressing social challenges.
He assured the Hisbah Board of his government’s readiness to assist it in effectively discharging its responsibilities and directed the management to formally document and submit its requests for consideration and necessary approval.
Governor Radda also expressed his readiness to support the establishment of a rehabilitation centre under the Hisbah Board to strengthen rehabilitation and community-based interventions.
He further pledged to support the provision of permanent office facilities for the Hisbah Board across the 34 local government areas of the state, as well as operational vehicles and other mobility support to enable its personnel to effectively carry out their duties.
Earlier, the Director of Administration and Supply of the Katsina State Hisbah Board, Bello Gatari Barau Zakka, presented the board’s status report to the Governor.
He said the meeting provided an opportunity for the board’s management to brief Governor Radda on key challenges affecting its operations and seek his intervention.
According to him, the board requested the organisation of a retreat for its members to deepen their understanding of their responsibilities, strengthen coordination and improve operational effectiveness.
He said Governor Radda responded positively to the requests and directed the management to formally document them for consideration and approval.
Bello Gatari Barau Zakka explained that the proposed retreat would equip board members with a better understanding of their responsibilities and improve the effectiveness of their operations, while the proposed rehabilitation centre would strengthen the board’s capacity to support rehabilitation efforts.
He also welcomed the Governor’s commitment to providing permanent offices and operational vehicles, describing the facilities as essential to improving the board’s service delivery across the state.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Nigeria Immigration Service, Federal Fire Service, Nigeria Police Force and Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), as well as members of the Hisbah Board’s management.
