The Secretary to the Nasarawa State Government, Dr Labaran Magaji, has rallied support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, Sen. Ahmed Wadada, the Nasarawa State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate and others ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at the APC Solidarity rally for President Tinubu’s re-election and Wadada in Toto Local Government Area, the SSG said President Tinubu deserves another term given his monumental achievements.
He highlighted the gains of President Tinubu’s administration, including the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELfund), which reduces tuition burdens on parents; subsidy removal, which improves federal allocations to Nasarawa State and received a boost to execute several projects and human capital development.
Magaji said the people of Toto LGA have spoken with one voice to support President Tinubu’s re-election and Sen. Wadada for Nasarawa governorship, and would not be divided ahead of 2027.
The SSG, who is also the Nasarawa State coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors and the rally convener, disbursed N25 million to 500 widows and vulnerable women in Toto Local Government Area under the Matawalle Empowerment and Development Foundation.
Magaji, who serves as executive director of the foundation, said the gesture was in line with Gov. Abdullahi Sule administration’s commitment to social welfare.
“This empowerment is to complement what the APC-led government is doing at all levels; each widow will receive N50,000 in cash through the Matawalle Empowerment and Development Foundation.
“The N25 million is in cash, and it is available now — not a promise. This is just the beginning. God willing, we will do more,” he said.
He added that the foundation in the last 10 years has executed several empowerment initiatives, including distribution of wrappers to 2,000 Christian women and 2,000 Muslim women, given scholarships to 1,000 youths, provided grants to 3,000 women and distributed sewing machines to youths.
He applauded Gov. Sule for restoring peace to Toto, which he said was previously plagued by kidnappings and ransom demands.
“You will recall that kidnappers used to kidnap our people in broad daylight and take them into the bush, forcing us to pay ransom. But today there is peace courtesy of the Governor, who is working tirelessly with security chiefs and has restored peace,” he said.
He commended Gov. Sule for fixing threatening gully erosion in Toto LGA, which he said was ignored by previous administrations despite several inspections.
Other projects listed include the completion of the Toto bypass, Umaisha road, and Toto market, construction of a mini stadium in Toto, and other new roads within Toto town.
The SSG, while speaking on health and social intervention, announced the donation of generator sets to power all boreholes in Toto LGA and disclosed the government’s plans to build four additional new Primary Health Centres in Toto LGA.
Also speaking, Dr Yarus Dagusa, the state APC Secretary, declared that the All Progressives Congress remains the dominant political force across Nasarawa State and the country.
He urged party members to maintain unity and follow the leadership of the party, noting that APC leaders would only direct the people toward the right path.
On his part, Pharm. Baba-Ahmed Yayaha, Chairman, Toto Local Government Area, said the people of Toto have no reason to abandon APC, citing the party’s record of appointments, peace and development in the area.
He said security has improved significantly, with residents who previously fled now back in their communities, and the National Youth Service Corps have since resumed, posting Corps members to the LGA again.
