The Plateau State Ministry of Transport has condemned the incident involving officials of the Vehicle Inspection Office while carrying out their lawful duties along Ahmadu Bello Way, Jos.
A video currently trending on social media platforms shows an altercation involving the officials in the course of their official assignment.
The Ministry considers the incident a serious affront to constituted authority and calls on the relevant security agencies to thoroughly investigate the matter, identify those responsible, and ensure that anyone found culpable faces the full consequences of the law.
The Plateau State Government will not tolerate violence, intimidation, or obstruction directed at its officials in the discharge of their statutory responsibilities.
The Ministry wishes to state unequivocally that no individual or group has the right to take the law into their own hands, regardless of the circumstances or perceived provocation. Any grievance against government officials should be addressed through lawful and appropriate channels.
The Government therefore urges members of the public to conduct themselves responsibly and refrain from actions capable of undermining public order or obstructing officials in the performance of their duties.
The Plateau State Government remains committed to upholding the rule of law, protecting its officials, and ensuring the effective discharge of government responsibilities.
