Kebbi State chapters of the Nigerian Legion and Military Widows Association have on Friday in Birnin Kebbi pledge their support to Governor Nasir led administration in its continued strides of taking the State to higher heights of development.
At a gathering of the bodies, State Chairman of the Legionnaires, Ahmed Matawalle, told the members that they had no alternative than to vote for Governor Idris because of the unending assistance to the associations both in cash and kind he had been going them.
He revealed that at no time had the doors of the state government ever closed for them in times of needs, stressing further that during religious festivities they were never denied the benefits given to the people of the state.
The Chairman warned that any member found causing trouble against the objective of peace and harmony would have no place in the association, citing example of the former Chairperson of Military Widows Association who despite loosing election refused to concede defeat.
He narrated that elections for MIWA was conducted successfully nationwide but only the defeated Kebbi leadership showed stubbornness and kept impersonating with just eight non-indigenes as her supporters, urging her and her members to return to their states of origin and join the same body.
The new Chairperson, Maryam Isah Garba, thanked the members for finding her worthy to champion their course, observing that all members of the union nationwide only got registered in their states of origin, but the defeated chairperson and her kitchen cabinet after loosing their husbands refused to return home.
“My coming into office was decided by majority votes. I thank them and will remain loyal to the Legion. Our Chairman is an honest man. Initially the past Chairperson used to only give us two or three thousand naira whenever the state government supported us financially but now we got twenty thousand each. We will consolidate on that,” she explained.
