The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nasarawa State Command, has arrested two suspects in connection with a suspected case of robbery, theft of a motor vehicle and attempted disposal of the stolen vehicle in Lafia, the state capital.
The command’s Public Relations and Strategic Communications Officer, PRO, SC Jerry Victor, paraded the suspects on behalf of the Commandant Brah Samson-Umoru in Lafia , the state capital.
He said the suspects were apprehended on August 21, 2026, at a mechanic workshop along Secretariat Road, Shabu, Lafia North Administrative Area Council, Lafia local government area of the state where they were reportedly in the process of disposing of the vehicle.
According to him, upon acting on credible and actionable intelligence, operatives of the command successfully intercepted Adamu Mohammed, 68 years, and Emmanuel Omaku, 32 years, while allegedly attempting to sell a suspected stolen vehicle.
His words, “The suspects were arrested on 21st August, 2026, at a mechanic workshop along Secretariat Road, Shabu, Lafia North Development Area of Nasarawa State, where they were reportedly in the process of disposing of the vehicle.”
According to him, the suspects were arrested following credible intelligence and sustained operational efforts by the Command,
Those suspects arrested, include Bello Usman, 21; Ahmad Haruna Wakili, 29, also known as “Babson,” and identified as the alleged ring leader; Umar Ibrahim Mohammed, 22; and Abass Ibrahim, who is suspected to specialise in the production and issuance of fake receipts.
He, however, explained that preliminary investigation indicates that the syndicate was suspected to be involved in activities relating to motorcycle theft, alteration of motorcycle identities and the production of fraudulent ownership documents.
He, however, added that the Command has commenced a thorough investigation to establish the source and ownership of the recovered vehicle, as well as the roles played by the suspects and other persons who might have be connected to the alleged criminal operation.
He maintained that efforts are also ongoing to apprehend other suspected members of the gang who are currently at large.
SC Victor used the medium and assured members of the public that the investigation will be conducted professionally and in accordance with the law, nothing upon completion of the investigation, the suspects and other persons found culpable will be charged before a competent court of jurisdiction for prosecution.
He stated that command remains committed to protecting lives and property and ensuring the safety and security of residents across the State.
In an exclusive interview with Arise News, one of the suspects Emmanuel Omaku, who confessed to the crime, however, pleaded to the command to temper mercy and justice.
Items recovered from the suspects include: One Toyota Camry, 2010 model, popularly known as Camry Muscle, two vehicle number plates: ABJ-289-CQ, Abuja, LAF-761-AG, Nasarawa, one Moniepoint ATM card, one cutlass, and the sum of N169,500.00 cash.
