Man, 20, docked over alleged theft of N1m iron rods

Sango-Ota (Ogun), Aug. 31, 2026 (NAN) A 20-year-old man, Seidu Abdullahi, on Monday appeared before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun, for allegedly stealing iron rods worth N1 million.
Abdullahi, of no fixed address, was charged with stealing.
The prosecutor, DSP E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on July 24, at about 6.58a.m at Donna new site, behind Priority Aluminium Company, Ota.
Adaraloye alleged that the defendant stole iron rods valued at N1 million, belonging to Sonna Company.
The prosecutor said that the defendant was caught by the company’s security guard and reported the case to the police.
He said that the offence contravened Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.O. Fadairo, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like sum.
She said that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.
The case was adjourned until Sept. 8, for further hearing. (NAN)
