Abuja, Aug. 29, 2026 (NAN) The organiser of Shelter Awards, Mr Nicolas Bibiem, popularly known as Nick B, has urged real estate stakeholders to uphold integrity and quality.
Bibiem made the call at the maiden Shelter Awards ceremony held on Saturday in Abuja, where real estate practitioners were honoured.
He said the awards recognised excellence and commitment among realtors, estate companies and property developers across the country.
According to him, nominees across various categories were selected based on recommendations from members of the public.
“There are those who sell only land, and land has to do with integrity; sometimes, when people buy land, they have issues,” Bibiem said.
He noted that the real estate industry comprised various segments, including land sales, property development, foundation construction and finishing.
“There are those who only build foundations and leave the rest for you to complete, and there are others that do the finishing,” he said.
Bibiem added that developers also specialised in different property types, including luxury houses, residential buildings and commercial plazas.
“Today, we bring all of them together to celebrate their excellence,” he said, describing the sector as worthy of recognition.
He said real estate was a multimillion-naira sector that created employment opportunities and contributed significantly to Nigeria’s economic growth.
“Real estate sector is worthy of celebration because it is a multimillion-naira sector that guarantees jobs and boosts the economy,” Bibiem said.
He urged industry operators to channel their efforts towards strengthening ethical standards and building public confidence in the real estate sector.
“We must be able to put our energy into developing and building integrity in real estate.
“My advice to developers is to keep integrity, value, standard, quality and keep to their terms of agreement with clients anytime,” Bibiem admonished.
Also speaking, Mrs Cynthia Asoluka, Chief Executive Officer of Cyntilos Homes and Property Ltd., expressed gratitude for her nomination and recognition.
“I am very excited for this recognition. I didn’t see it coming, but I thank God. The award means a lot to me,” she said.
Asoluka said the award demonstrated that her company’s efforts were being noticed, adding that the recognition had further strengthened her resolve.
“One thing I learnt from this award today is that whatever you are doing, keep doing it; people are seeing,” she said.
She said her nomination came as a surprise because she still regarded Cyntilos Homes and Property Ltd. as a young company.
“I still see my organisation as a baby company, but from today, we are no longer a baby company,” Asoluka said.
She disclosed that the company operated in Abuja, Owerri in Imo and Enugu states, while planning further expansion across Nigeria and beyond.
“We plan to expand to other states of the federation and beyond,” she said, dedicating the award to God, her late mother, family and team.
Similarly, Mr Jamilu Abdulsalam, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Hajaj Real Estate, described his recognition as a blessing and honour.
He said the award recognised his company among leading real estate developers in northern Nigeria and challenged the organisation to achieve more.
“The award means a challenge to do more, to push, and a recognition that we are doing something pretty good,” Abdulsalam said.
He dedicated the award to his family and team, as well as the Federal Government for creating an enabling environment for housing development.
Abdulsalam said Kano was experiencing rapid growth, with its large population and strategic position making it attractive to neighbouring states and countries.
He noted that the state’s strong trade, manufacturing and market activities had contributed to significant purchasing power among residents.
“What a realtor requires in terms of ability is population, purchasing power and very good land for them to build.
“We have all these in Kano,” added Abdulsalam, whose company received the award for Best Northern Developer.
He urged property developers to explore opportunities outside Abuja, which he described as increasingly saturated with real estate activities.
“I want to call on real estate companies to look beyond Abuja because it is saturated. Let’s look outside.
“You can go back to your state because, if we don’t do it and only concentrate in Abuja, nobody is going to do it for us,” Abdulsalam said.
He said Hajaj Real Estate had deliberately returned to Kano, where it had established a strong presence and expanded its operations.
“We chose to go back to Kano, and so far, we are not only leading in Kano but in Northern Nigeria, and that is a big one,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that guests at the ceremony were entertained by Nigerian musicians, including Sky B and Ibro of Zule Zoo.
Comedians also entertained guests during the event, which attracted several real estate practitioners, developers and industry stakeholders. (NAN)
