Enugu, Aug. 29, 2026 (NAN) The Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Bukola Olopade, has expressed confidence that Enugu will host the best National Sports Festival (NSF) ever held in Nigeria.
Olopade expressed the confidence on Friday at the unveiling of the official mascot for the festival scheduled to hold in Enugu from Nov. 27 to Dec. 11.
The NSC boss said he was excited when he learnt that Enugu would host the festival, describing the decision as a demonstration of the unity and inclusivity for which the NSF was known.
He said the festival needed to be taken to different parts of the country to promote wider participation and inclusiveness.
“We felt that after 28 years, the NSF should move from the South-West and South-South to other parts of the country to promote inclusivity.
“After touring the facilities being put in place by Enugu State, I am confident that Enugu is ready and will host the best festival ever in Nigeria,” he said.
Olopade said the unveiling of the official mascot marked the commencement of activities leading to the festival.
According to him, the event would generate excitement and enthusiasm not only in Enugu but across the country.
The Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ossai, who represented Gov. Peter Mbah, said the unveiling of the mascot demonstrated the seriousness attached to hosting a successful festival by the state government.
Ossai subsequently unveiled the mascot amid cheers from the gathering.
