Dutse, Aug. 28, 2026 (NAN) Dr Adaji Usman, the National Coordinator, Special Marshals, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), says the corps’ road safety interventions aim to educate road users rather than arrest traffic offenders.
He stated this on Thursday in Dutse on the sidelines of the 2026 Special Marshals Zonal Conference organised by the RS1 Zonal Headquarters.
RS1 zone comprises Kaduna, Kano, Katsina and Jigawa commands of the corp.
Usman said that the biennial conference provided a platform to review the activities of special marshals in the last two years, identify shortcomings and determine areas requiring improvements.
He said that the review was imperative to check indiscriminate violations of traffic regulations, and promote safe road practices.
“Our aim is to show people what they should do on the road. It is not simply about waiting for someone to commit an offence, and arrest the person,” he said.
Usman highlighted that recommendations from the review would be compiled into a communiqué, and transmitted to the various commands for consideration and necessary actions.
The coordinator said that strengthening the capacity of personnel through further training would improve the effectiveness of the special marshals.
“We are geared to improve our activities and train personnel so that we can contribute towards reducing the loss of lives on our roads,” he said.
