Foundation empowers 200 women with N10m in Kogi

Mopamuro (Kogi), Aug. 28, 2026 (NAN) The Fiki Foundation has empowered 200 vulnerable women in Mopamuro Local Government Area of Kogi with
N50, 000 each, amounting to N10 million.

Speaking at the empowerment event, Executive Director of the foundation, Eric Fiki, said that the initiative was designed to cushion economic hardship among women in the 10 wards of the council.

The empowerment which held on Friday at Mopa was organised as part of activities to support the re-election bids of President Bola Tinubu, Gov. Usman Ododo and other APC candidates.

Fiki, who is also the Baale of Amuro Kingdom, said the intervention would support beneficiaries engaged in small-scale businesses.

He said that the gesture was part of his contribution to the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government and people-oriented policies of the Kogi Government.

“This is just the beginning. We will keep empowering our women, youths and men so that no one is left behind,” he said.

Fiki said the empowerment was part of the foundation’s continuous intervention programme, which he said, was implemented two to three times annually.

He, however, said that the programme was not restricted to election periods, adding that the foundation remained committed to supporting vulnerable members of society.

He urged the beneficiaries to use the funds judiciously to improve their businesses and livelihoods.

Fiki also appealed to the beneficiaries to support President Tinubu, Gov. Ododo and other APC candidates during the 2027 general elections.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Veronica Ibeun, thanked Fiki for the gesture, saying she would invest the money in her provisions and drinks business.

Ibeun expressed hope that the money would increase her income and enable her to provide better support for her family.

Another beneficiary, Mrs Oluwatoyin Elisha, a provisions and frozen fish trader, said the assistance would strengthen her business.

Elisha appealed to other well-meaning individuals to emulate Fiki in supporting youths and women in Kogi to enable them become economically autonomous.

The chairman of the council, Ademola Bello, represented by Temitope Santos, commended the foundation for complementing government’s poverty alleviation efforts.

Santos urged the beneficiaries to make productive use of the funds and ensure that the intervention contributed to improving their livelihoods.

He also urged them to mobilise support for Tinubu, Ododo and other APC candidates for re-election. (NAN)
