Oke-Agi, Aug. 22, 2026 (NAN) Gov. Ahmed Ododo of Kogi has commended the Henry Adetayo Foundation for remodelling the Local Government Secondary School, Oke-Agi, in Mopamuro Local Government Area of the state.
Ododo gave the commendation on Saturday at the commissioning and handing-over ceremony in Oke-Agi, where he said education remained one of the most important investments any society could make.
The governor described the project as a significant contribution to education and the future of children in the community.
Represented by the Commissioner for Education, Mr. Wemi Jones, the governor said his administration remained committed to providing quality education and creating conducive learning environments across the state.
He described education as a shared responsibility, requiring collaboration among government, parents, teachers, communities and organisations, and commended the foundation for complementing government’s efforts through the school remodelling.
According to him, the project goes beyond infrastructure, as it represents an investment in the dignity, potential and future of the students.
Ododo urged individuals, foundations and organisations to emulate the gesture, while calling on the Oke-Agi community to protect and maintain the facility.
He also pledged to provide perimeter fencing and computers for the school to improve its security and enhance teaching and learning.
Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer of the Henry Adetayo Foundation, Mrs. Christiana Arayeigbemi, said the project was inspired by her late husband’s passion for education and his desire to improve the lives of children in the community.
Arayeigbemi said the foundation undertook the project to sustain his legacy and provide the students with a conducive learning environment.
She urged the school management and community to take proper care of the facility, while encouraging the students to study hard, respect their teachers and strive for excellence.
The Chairman of Mopamuro Local Government Area, Mr. Ademola Bello, also commended the foundation, describing the intervention as a commendable example of giving back to the community.
Bello urged Kogi people in the diaspora to emulate the gesture, and pledged N100,000 annually to the overall best male and female students in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
Speaking on behalf of the students, Precious Ojo thanked the foundation for providing a conducive learning environment, assuring that the pupils would study hard, respect their teachers and protect the facilities.
