Kebbi Governor’s media team warns media outfits against political manipulation

As part of its nationwide tour of media organisations, the Kebbi State Governor’s Media Team has visited some online media outfits in Birnin Kebbi.
The team cautioned journalists and media managers to be wary of desperate and ambitious politicians who may seek to use them for selfish political interests.
The delegation was led by the Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy, Abdullahi Idris Sadaukin Zuru, who represented the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Yakubu Ahmed BK.
The team visited IMS Media and Skylight Television stations.
Speaking during the visits, Alhaji Zuru said the tour was to convey the appreciation of Governor Comrade Nasir Idris for the support the media has given the administration so far.
He expressed satisfaction with the publicity being given to state government programmes and projects across Kebbi, noting that the coverage has encouraged government to sustain its development tempo, adding that the public also appreciates the visible impact on their well-being.
The Strategic Communication Adviser, however, alerted the stations to ongoing attempts by what he described as “desperate, highly ambitious but hopeless politicians” to use both mainstream and social media platforms to fabricate falsehoods and make baseless allegations aimed at discrediting the achievements of the state government.
“Kebbi State administration under Comrade Governor Nasir Idris has changed the narrative of the state’s development through the execution of high-quality infrastructure and programmes that have positively transformed the socio-economic fortunes of our people. That is why the opposition has become hopeless in pursuing selfish political interests,” he said.
He further stated that some of these desperate politicians had served at the national level but failed to assist their communities. Instead, he alleged that they accumulated questionable wealth and properties that are now being investigated and prosecuted in different courts.
At IMS online Television, the Managing Director, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, thanked the team for the visit. He commended the remarkable achievements of the government and pledged that the station would continue to uphold justice, fairness, and the ethics of journalism.
His counterpart at Skylight Television, Engineer Isiyaka Abdulaziz, also commended the administration. He said the station identifies with the unprecedented and visible development recorded by the Comrade Governor Nasir Idris administration in the last three years.
