Renowned estate surveyor, real estate developer, investment consultant and academic, Dr. Johnson Somadina Anene, has commemorated his 60th birthday with the public presentation of his new book, Dynamics of Real Estate Investment, a comprehensive guide aimed at unlocking wealth through strategic real estate investment.
The well-attended event brought together distinguished personalities from government, the private sector, the diplomatic community, professional associations, traditional institutions and the real estate industry to celebrate the remarkable achievements of a man whose over 35 years of professional experience have significantly shaped Nigeria’s real estate landscape.
The ceremony was chaired by Senator Dr. Victor Umeh, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Diaspora and NGOs, who commended Dr. Anene for his outstanding contributions to the growth of Nigeria’s real estate sector. He described the publication as a timely resource that would provide valuable knowledge and practical guidance for investors, professionals and aspiring entrepreneurs seeking to build sustainable wealth through real estate.
The event was graced by several eminent personalities, including Senator Ubah, Prince Adetokunbo Kayode, SAN, former Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and former President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), Chief Emeka Obegolu, SAN, President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, representatives of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, estate surveyors and valuers, real estate developers, members of the diplomatic community, religious leaders, traditional rulers and other stakeholders from both the public and private sectors.
Reviewing the book, Prof. Adesoji Adesugba, 1st Deputy President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), described the publication as a rich compilation of over three decades of practical experience and scholarly research. According to him, the 265-page book carefully documents Dr. Anene’s wealth of knowledge acquired over 35 years in the real estate industry.

He noted that while some people perceive real estate investment as an exclusive venture reserved for the wealthy, and others see it as a simple business requiring little expertise, both assumptions are inaccurate.
According to him, the book demonstrates that although real estate investment requires sound knowledge, patience and strategic planning, it remains a learnable and rewarding enterprise for individuals willing to understand market dynamics and apply proven investment principles.

Dr. Anene is the Principal Partner of Som Anene & Partners, a firm of Chartered Estate Surveyors and Valuers, and the Chief Executive Officer of Shelter Aid Group, a leading real estate and investment company established in 1996. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) and several other professional bodies. He is also a member of the Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN), Convener of the annual Real Estate and Construction Exhibition, Conference and Symposium (RECON Expo), and Chairman of the Abuja Trade Center (ATC).
