The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Paulinus Chukwuemeka Ezeokafor, has commissioned a solar power system, a potable water project, and the newly constructed St. Anthony of Padua Grotto at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Nibo, in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The commissioning ceremony attracted priests, religious faithful, parishioners and guests who gathered to celebrate the completion of the projects, which are aimed at improving the parish’s infrastructure and enhancing the spiritual and social well-being of the community.

Speaking during the event, Bishop Ezeokafor described the projects as practical demonstrations of Christian faith and service. He encouraged believers to continue supporting initiatives that address both the spiritual and physical needs of the people.

The bishop commended the parish priest, church leaders and benefactors whose contributions made the projects possible, noting that such efforts strengthen the Church’s mission and promote community development.

According to him, the solar power installation will provide a dependable electricity supply for church services and other parish activities, while the water project will ensure access to clean water for parishioners and residents of the surrounding community.

He also said the newly dedicated St. Anthony of Padua Grotto would serve as a peaceful centre for prayer, reflection and devotion, offering the faithful an opportunity to seek God’s grace through the intercession of the saint.

Parishioners expressed appreciation to God for the successful completion of the projects, describing the occasion as a significant milestone in the history of the church. They said the new facilities would support evangelisation, improve community outreach and encourage greater participation in the life of the parish.

The commissioning underscores the Awka Diocese’s continued commitment to combining spiritual growth with developmental projects that improve the living conditions of the faithful and their communities.
