The announcement was made during the Sixth Executive Committee and Council Meeting held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the President’s Conference Room.
The position of Deputy Director General, the first of its kind in the history of the Chamber, was created following a resolution reached at the 2025 Executive Committee Retreat as part of ACCI’s strategic efforts to strengthen its institutional capacity, enhance service delivery to members, and deepen its contribution to Nigeria’s economic development.
Announcing the appointment, Chief Obegolu stated that the Executive Committee unanimously approved Dr. Temitope’s promotion in recognition of her dedication, professionalism, and invaluable contributions to the Chamber’s growth and development.
“This promotion is in recognition of your dedication, professionalism, and invaluable contributions to the growth and development of the Chamber. We are confident that you will continue to discharge your responsibilities with the same commitment and diligence that have distinguished your service to the Chamber. We look forward to your continued contributions in your new role,” the President said.
He further explained that the creation of the office of Deputy Director General is aimed at improving the Chamber’s operational efficiency, strengthening institutional effectiveness, enhancing service delivery to members, and reinforcing ACCI’s role in advancing private sector development and national economic growth.
The Director General of ACCI, Mr. Agabaidu Jideani, also congratulated Dr. Temitope on her appointment, describing her as a committed and accomplished professional whose contributions have significantly advanced the Chamber’s growth and development.
“There is no doubt in my mind that you will excel in this new responsibility, just as you have consistently demonstrated excellence in every assignment entrusted to you. On behalf of the Management Council and the entire staff of the Chamber, I congratulate you and wish you every success in this important role,” he said.
In her acceptance remarks, Dr. Temitope expressed profound gratitude to God, the President of ACCI, Chief Emeka Obegolu, SAN, PhD, the Executive Committee, the Management Council, and the entire leadership of the Chamber for the confidence reposed in her.
She described her appointment as the Pioneer Deputy Director General as both a great honour and a reflection of the Chamber’s institutional growth.
“This position is the first of its kind in the history of ACCI, and it reflects the Chamber’s continuous growth and commitment to excellence. I am deeply honoured to have been entrusted with this responsibility, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who has contributed to this milestone.”
She noted that the appointment comes with greater responsibility and a renewed commitment to service.
“To whom much is given, much is expected. I look forward to taking on this new responsibility with dedication, embracing the challenges ahead, and working collaboratively to advance the vision and mission of the Chamber,” she added.
Before her appointment, Dr. Temitope served as Deputy Director at the ACCI Business, Entrepreneurship, Skills and Technology (BEST) Centre and was subsequently appointed Director of the Centre, where she provided exemplary leadership and contributed significantly to entrepreneurship development, capacity building, and institutional growth within the Chamber.
Her appointment marks another significant milestone in ACCI’s commitment to strengthening its leadership structure and positioning the Chamber to deliver greater value to its members and the Nigerian business community.
