The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Bishop Prof Stephen Adegbite, has said: “We want Nigeria to move forward, but without peace, Nigeria cannot move forward.”
The Executive Secretary made this assertion on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, during the 2026 NCPC Annual General Staff Retreat at the CSS Global Integrated Farms in Gora, Nasarawa State.
The NCPC boss further reiterated: “We need peace, and we will never relent until total peace returns to Nigeria.”
In his words: “Let us pray that the Lord will restore peace and tranquillity in the country.”
He cautioned that politicians must play by the rules, stating that electioneering campaigns must be peaceful and devoid of character assassination.
He expressed optimism that the 2027 general elections would be peaceful, adding that anyone who wishes to contest should test his or her popularity at the ballot box.
The NCPC helmsman further admonished religious leaders to be extremely circumspect, because they will give account of their actions to God after this life. He therefore urged them to be conscious of what they say.
Bishop Adegbite emphasised that the essence of the general staff retreat was in preparation for the 2026 pilgrimage exercise. He noted that this year’s retreat is the second edition under his leadership.
He disclosed that the Commission, under his leadership, had airlifted about 40,000 pilgrims to the Holy Land in the past two years and more.
He expressed optimism that as soon as relative peace returns to Israel and the Middle East, the pilgrimage exercise would commence, to enable Christians to go and pray for peace and for the peaceful conduct of the 2027 general elections in the Holy Land.
The theme of the NCPC 2026 General Staff Retreat is: _”I Will Fight for You and Give You Rest.”_
The retreat provided an opportunity for staff of the Commission to interact, bond, and strategise for higher productivity and more efficient pilgrimage operations.
