The All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders and party loyalists from the Nasarawa South Senatorial District have unanimously endorsed Dr Joseph Kigbu as Sen. Ahmed Wadada running mate for the 2027 governorship election.
The endorsement is contained in a communiqué issued in Lafia after a strategic consultative meeting Convene by Mr Ayuba Umbugadu
The meeting had representatives of community leaders, youth, women, and various ethnic nationalities in Nasarawa South Senatorial Distrct.
According to the communique, the stakeholders having reviewed the political landscape ahead of 2027 resolved that Kigbu remains the most qualified, most acceptable, and most strategically positioned individual to serve as the Wadada’s running mate.
They said that while respecting other aspirants’ rights, no other aspirant presently commands the level of grassroots acceptance, statewide goodwill, political experience, and cross-ethnic and religious appeal enjoyed by Kigbu.
In the communique, they argued that Kigbu has widespread acceptance, goodwill, grassroots connection, and reputation for service, that earned him respect far beyond his immediate constituency.
They noted that a Wadada-Kigbu ticket represents the strongest political combination capable of delivering overwhelming victory for the APC in the 2027 governorship and other elective positions across the state.
The communiqué highlighted Kigbu’s humanitarian work and statewide influence beyond Nasarawa South.
“We noted with satisfaction that Dr Kigbu’s impact transcends Nasarawa South Senatorial District, as his humanitarian interventions, empowerment programmes, and political engagements have positively touched lives.
“This will also positively impact the party’s fortunes in senatorial, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly elections across the state,” the communique stated.
They, therefore, called on Gov. Sule, Sen. Wadada, the APC State Chairman, State Executive Committee, and other decision-makers to consider the overwhelming preference of the people and endorse Dr Kigbu as the APC deputy governorship candidate.
According to the communique, the endorsement represents the collective and unanimous position of APC stakeholders and party loyalists drawn from the various communities and ethnic nationalities of Nasarawa South, North and West Senatorial Districts.
they expressed confidence that a Wadada-Kigbu ticket will inspire greater unity within the APC and attract broad-based support from voters across Nasarawa State.
The stakeholders commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for purposeful leadership, commitment to infrastructural development, promotion of peace, and dedication to unity and for strengthening APC across the three senatorial districts.
They disclosed that in the coming days, a high-powered delegation of stakeholders will seek audience with Gov. Sule, Sen. Wadada, and party leaders to formally present and defend the position reached during the meeting.
