Nasarawa Amazons Football Club of Lafia has experienced their first defeat in the ongoing NWFL
Premiership Super Six Tournament after , falling 2-0 to FC Robo Queens of Lagos in their Matchday 3 encounter played at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers State Capital.

Coming into the fixture after two consecutive victories against Edo Queens and defending champions Bayelsa Queens, the Lafia-based side were determined to maintain their perfect start to the tournament, However, FC Robo Queens proved to be a tough opponent and capitalized on key moments in the second half to secure all three points.

The opening 45 minutes featured a closely contested match, with both sides creating opportunities but failing to break the deadlock.

Nasarawa Amazons remained organized defensively while FC Robo sought openings, resulting in a goalless first half.

After the restart of the second half , FC Robo increased the tempo and pressed higher up the pitch despite Nasarawa Amazons’ efforts to gain control, the Lagos-based side found the breakthrough in the 59th minute due to a defensive lapse with Ajakaye seized the opportunity to put her Team ahead.

Just five minutes later, FC Robo doubled their advantage when Ajakaye turned provider, by assisting Kami Adegbuyi, who calmly finished to make it 2-0.

Nasarawa Amazons responded by bringing on Shobowale for Ayatsea Hembafan in search of a comeback with the substitute coming closer on several occasions, striking the woodwork and creating dangerous moments, but the Amazons were unable to breach the resilient FC Robo defense.

Goalkeeper Unachukwu Udoka also made several crucial saves to keep Nasarawa Amazons in the contest, as FC Robo held onto a well-deserved 2-0 victory after the final whistle.

Speaking after the match, Nasarawa Amazons Assistant Coach Olaoye Oluwaseyi says they remained positive despite the setback. “That’s football. Sometimes you win, and sometimes you lose. We win as a team and lose as a team. Before the Super Six started, we stated that we wanted to compete and fight for the title, and that remains our objective. The competition is still open.”

Nasarawa Amazons will now shift their focus to Match day 4, where they will face Abia Angels on Friday, June 12, at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, with a kick-off scheduled for 12:00 pm.
