The Special Adviser on Religious Affairs (Islamic Matters) to the Senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, Alhaji Ilya Musa, has commended the First Aid Group of Fityanul Islam of Nigeria for its humanitarian services, urging members to sustain their voluntary contributions to community development.
Musa made the call during an orientation programme and Walimat organised by the First Aid Group, Zone C of southern Kaduna held in Godogodo.
He described the activities of the organisation as a vital service to humanity, noting that its members have continued to provide assistance to victims of accidents and other emergencies without expecting financial rewards.
According to him, the sacrifices made by the volunteers have complemented efforts to safeguard lives and promote peaceful coexistence within communities.
He urged the leadership of the organisation to prioritise regular training and retraining of younger members to equip them with modern first aid and emergency response skills.
“The group should continue to organise capacity-building workshops for its members, especially the younger generation, to ensure they remain relevant and effective in line with evolving global best practices and humanitarian standards,” he said.
Musa also called for continued support for the Senator representing Kaduna South, Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, describing his representation as inclusive and beneficial to the people of the district.
In his remarks, the Chief Imam of Godogodo Central Mosque, Malam Adamu Abdullahi, encouraged members of the First Aid Group to remain steadfast in their commitment to serving humanity.
He noted that the group’s role in providing immediate assistance to accident victims and other vulnerable persons before they receive medical attention was invaluable, urging members to uphold discipline, integrity and good character in their dealings with the public.
Earlier, the Zonal Director of the organisation for Zone C, Idris Sani, called on members to remain patient and steadfast in carrying out their responsibilities, stressing the importance of faith and perseverance in humanitarian service.
As part of the event, certificates of appreciation and awards were presented to selected individuals in recognition of their outstanding support, dedication and commitment to the growth and humanitarian activities of the First Aid Group. The organisers said the gesture was aimed at encouraging greater community participation and service to humanity.
The orientation programme and Walimat attracted members of the First Aid Group from across Zone C, as well as state officials and other stakeholders, who reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening voluntary emergency response services in communities across southern Kaduna.
